Giselle

Giselle Poor sweet Giselle was neglected for so long. She finally ended up in our local city animal shelter, where she was rescued by Joanne from Wee Rescue. The shelter workers didn't see the point in trying to help her, but luckily Joanne saw enough life in Giselle to know that she deserved a better ending to her sad life. You can read her story on the Wee Rescue web site.

But don't feel so sad for her, because now she is a happy little dog! She is very active, and has a good appetite. Her favorite foods are toaster waffles, Amy's pizza crusts, and Yves veggie deli slices. She'll take your finger off trying to get a bite. Her little tail wags all the time. Just watching her and seeing her happy, brings me endless joy.

On my road trip up to Seattle, my travel companions and their little elderly dog, Sam, fell in love with Giselle (how could they not?) and decided to adopt her! So Giselle made the long trip back to Austin and is now enjoying a wonderful life with her new family.

Update: January 20th, 2004
Sweet Giselle passed away after a couple of months of weakness and weight loss. She remained in good spirits until the end, enjoying a wonderful holiday season full of love and tasty treats.

I don't know what Giselle's life was like before Joanne rescued her from the shelter. I know she came to us very sick, scared, and neglected. I also know that the last year of her life was a truly happy one. I am profoundly grateful to Susan and Michael for all the love and care they gave to Giselle over her last several months, to Joanne for rescuing her and allowing me to care for her until a permanant home was found, and to Giselle for all the joy and love she gave to us all.

We will miss you, sweet girl.

Giselle
