The Dogs

The dogs came into my life when I moved into my rental house in Oak Hill in June. The family (7 puppies, a mama dog, and 2 papa dogs) were being cared for by my neighbor. None of them were fixed or vaccinated. The puppies were about 2 months old at that time. Two of them had been killed by cars.

Papa and the puppies The five puppies and one of the papa dogs were fixed and vaccinated. In early October, the mama dog, Stripe, had another litter of puppies - 4 girls and 4 boys. Homes were found for them as soon as they went up for adoption. Soon after, Stripe was finally caught, spayed, and vaccinated.

But there was no fence there to stop them from running into the street. December 18th, Papa Dog was hit by a car and killed instantly. He was a terrific little guy and is greatly missed.

After that incident, I found safe foster homes for two of the puppies and was able to keep an eye on the remaining three. Now that we have moved into a new house with a big fenced yard, the animals are safe from cars and cold-hearted people. Midget and Skippy now reside with me permanently.

The cutest thing they do is howl when the sirens come by.
